Embolization is commonly
mentioned for hemangiomas, but only rarely required.
Embolization should be considered if there are
significant associated complications (e.g. heart
failure due to significant arteriovenous shunt or
bleeding). Embolization
may be particularly useful in Kaposiform
Hemangioendothelioma (KHE) rather than infantile
hemangioma. Embolization can also be used in
selected intramuscular and non-involuting congenital
hemangiomas.
